I moved to Harrogate in 1999, set up Harrogate Yoga and have been teaching yoga here ever since. Sometimes I ask my students if they are originally from this town, or county even - very few reply that they were brought up here. Being Yorkshire born and bred myself, I’m amazed at how cosmopolitan Harrogate has become since I used to visit as a child.

I was brought up not far away – in Collingham. I remember coming to Harrogate in the Sixties with my Mother and Sister to have our hair cut at Brian Leslie’s (above where NatWest is now), buy cakes from Betty’s (then located on Cambridge Crescent) shop...
